Finch Signs and where it all started.

Stan Finch sign

Finch Signs….”Why call it Finch Signs?” I hear you ask. It’s very, very simple; my best friend, my mentor, my boss, my teacher, was called Stan Finch. When I left school at the tender age of 16, I joined Stan at his signwriting business called Finch Signs.

Stan taught me the traditional skill of signwriting, the first word I ever wrote with a brush and mahl stick was ‘’lip’’ as it had a vertical, horizontal and a curve, he taught me how to turn and twist my brush and set me on my path to my career in signwriting, and I am so glad he did, without Stan, none of what we have achieved would have been possible.

Stan taught me so many things that have stayed with me for all my working career. Stan played a massive part when we set up Finch Signs in 2011, calling in every day to help, he fetched, carried, delivered, advised and made the tea, he loved it and I spent so much time talking with him and reminiscing the good ole days. Stan Finch was, and will always be remembered fondly at Finch Signs, sadly Stan passed away in December 2016 but not a day goes by when he is not in our thoughts; his bread and butter pudding, his coffee making, his old saying “…alright”, his memory lives on at Finch Signs.

Stan was so proud of what we had achieved at Finch Signs & I know he would be even more proud on our 10 year anniversary, he still watches over us.

Stan Finch, Finch Signs………they go together, Finch Signs is so called because of my friend Stan…

Love and miss you Stan.

Darren.
